BBI’s CEO and Co-Founder Lara Muller contributed to this year’s Green Build Expo in Chicago in the session “Value Creation Through Health Promotion” on 13th of November.
Together with Chris Pyke – Research Officer at US Green Building Council, Jorge Chapa – Head of Market Transformation at Green Building Council Australia, and Phillippe Bernier – Vice President, Innovation & Sustainability at Triovest Realty Advisors Inc, Lara Muller spoke on the rapidly emerging issues ‘Health and well-being’ as very important for the real estate industry, increasing opportunities for value creation at various scales of built environment practice. The emergence of new health-focused tools and guidelines for the design and construction of buildings and neighborhoods allows design firms and real estate companies to increase their competitive edge by adding health to their existing offerings. Likewise, at the scale of the real estate portfolio, new forms of investment aim to demonstrate the ability to improve health equity while providing attractive risk- adjusted returns for investors. In this session, market leaders from various scales of built environment decision-making will share their experience utilizing a variety of tools (LEED, WELL and GRESB) to create added value by increasing the focus on health and well-being.
